TRAVEL AND TOURISM

There is a famous saying on travel – “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”

The word “Travel” originates from the French word “travail” which means “work”. Slowly, it evolved over centuries to mean “movement from place to place”. Travel is nothing but the movement of people from one place to another across relatively far off geographical locations. Travel is generally undertaken for business or pleasure or research or exploration etc.

It is said that the Tourist who moves about to see and hear and open himself to all the influences of the places which condense centuries of human greatness is only a man in search of excellence. Tourism is the business of attracting, accommodating and entertaining tourists. Tourism has evolved and developed through the ages and the presence of this Industry is now seen almost everywhere. From being considered as something to be undertaken only during the holiday season, it now includes all travel to and stay in places outside a person’s natural environment for any period of time for leisure, work or other purposes. Tourism can be domestic or international.

Today, the Tourism Industry is a major source of income for many countries and it has an important role in affecting the economy of that country. Travel and Tourism is considered the world’s largest foreign exchange earner, providing employment opportunities to several thousands of people all across the world and is both directly and indirectly associated with all the other industries.

Travel digests and magazines provide a useful insight into the customs and culture of the place of proposed visit, the rules and regulations attributable to that place, local laws and people, places of stay like hotels, inns, motels etc with tariff rates, best restaurants, local cuisine etc which  indeed is a valuable well of information to a traveller. In India, the growth and development of Travel and Tourism, as an Industry, is gaining momentum only now due to the increasing worldwide interest in travel and with the realisation of the advantages that would accrue due to the promotion of this industry. Travel and Tourism also attracts young talent due to the various perks and benefits that arise from working in that industry. There are various travel companies and travel agents who take care of everything – from the moment a person steps out of his house to the second he sets foot back into his house, including food, shopping etc. They also take care of all the paperwork needed relating to the travel proposed to be undertaken.

Dubai, a culturally sophisticated and exotic land entices a traveller to visit. People travelling to Dubai for any purpose – work or pleasure, can apply online for a visa or avail the services offered by agencies. Dubai visas are relatively easy to obtain, if gone through the proper channels – be it a Dubai Tourist visa or a visa for any other purpose.
